What a privilege to be the first to review this wonderful book!It is written in a way that makes me feel like I'm sitting in his living room as he recounts his remarkable life story. Captain Williams was my first tap-dance teacher in San Mateo, CA. It wasn't until 2009 that I learned of his WWII Tuskegee Airman hero status, when I was preparing to share with my elementary students (all 600+ of them, since I'm the campus librarian!)information about the "people of color" who had influenced and inspired my life, displayed on my large bulletin board featuring African American History. What a thrill to learn that that Mr. Williams was not only the reason I went on to perform and teach dance, but that he was a renowned national hero! I plan to share the story of Captain Williams' content of character with as many people as possible - especially my students, who yearn for positive role models.Product details

Victory Tales of a Tuskegee Airman eBook Les Williams Penny L Williams Reviews
Les Williams is an amazing man with an incredible story. I have had the privilege of hearing some of his stories first hand. He has helped me to understand what is was like to be a Black man in the military during World War II. This is an important part of history that must not be forgotten. I am glad he put his story on paper because we all need to hear and learn from his experiences.
When I brought the book I had hoped to read about the many exploits of the Tuskegee Airman in combat. It was not that at all. It was more about a young man who was a member of the famous Airman and his struggles being a man of color in a white man's military service at that time in history. Although a fairly good read, just not what I was looking for.
